The most popular island wrap request we get is a two-tone kitchen: contrasting island and cabinet colours. The island becomes a focal point — a statement piece rather than a functional afterthought. Common combinations in 2026:

• White units + dark navy or forest green island. Classic, clean, increasingly standard in South Yorkshire homes.
• Light grey units + charcoal or anthracite island. Tonal — elegant without being jarring.
• Cream or ivory units + midnight blue island. Warmer than white/navy, works well in older properties.

The key consideration for two-tone is lighting — a dark island in a north-facing kitchen can feel heavy. We'll flag this at the survey if relevant.

Marble-effect island — the luxury look at vinyl prices

Marble-effect vinyl on a kitchen island is one of our most requested finishes. The most popular options:

• Calacatta White — white base with bold grey veining. Dramatic, aspirational. Looks best with mid or dark unit colours.
• Carrara Grey — softer grey-white marble effect. More subtle, works with almost any unit colour.
• Dark Emperor — black-brown marble with gold veining. Statement finish, works with lighter units.
• Arabescato — white with grey and gold tones. Very on-trend in 2026.

Marble-effect vinyl has a physical surface texture — it feels right, not just looks right. Premium films replicate the depth and variation of real stone without the cost, weight or maintenance of actual marble. Worth noting: we don't recommend marble effect on worktops in high-use areas (the film isn't heat-proof at the levels a hob produces), but for island panel surfaces it's excellent.

Woodgrain island — warmth and natural feel

If your kitchen runs cool (grey units, white walls, stone floor), a woodgrain island adds warmth. Popular choices:

• Light oak. Scandinavian-influenced, pairs well with white or light grey units.
• American walnut. Darker, richer grain — works with cream or white units to feel luxurious.
• Smoked oak. Grey-toned woodgrain — more contemporary, bridges the gap between wood and industrial.
• Reclaimed wood effect. Rustic texture for farmhouse-style kitchens.

Bold solid colours — making the island a statement

Solid colour islands are the most popular category overall. Current top colours:

• Forest green / sage green. The dominant kitchen colour trend of 2024–2026 in the UK. Deep olive green, sage or mid-forest green all work.
• Midnight / dark blue. Navy and ink blue have replaced teal as the dark colour of choice.
• Warm terracotta / brick red. Niche but striking in the right kitchen — works with natural stone floors and warm lighting.
• Charcoal / anthracite. Reliable, modern, pairs with almost anything.
• Dusty pink. Softer alternative to grey — increasingly popular in family kitchens.

How to choose: the survey conversation

Most clients come to the survey with an idea but leave with a different final choice once they see samples in their actual kitchen light. This is normal and expected. Colours look different in showrooms, on screens and in your specific room — north vs south facing, ceiling height, floor colour and adjacent surfaces all change how a finish reads.

We bring a large physical sample library to every survey. The typical conversation goes: we assess the island structure, you narrow down to 3–4 options from the samples, we place them against your existing units or floor and you make the final call in your own light. No pressure, no rush.

Island wrap costs

A standalone island wrap typically costs from £250–£600 depending on the island's size, number of door fronts, complexity of panels and the finish chosen. Combined with a full kitchen wrap, the island is usually included in the total job price — more cost-effective than booking separately. Fixed price after free survey.

Can I wrap just the island?

Yes — island-only jobs are common. The most frequent reason: the kitchen units are already wrapped (by us or another company) and the owner wants to update or add the island. Or the units are new and fine but the island is old and mismatched. We quote island-only jobs exactly the same as full kitchen wraps — free survey, fixed price.
