The town centre commercial core (LA9) is predominantly Georgian and Victorian limestone-fronted buildings on the medieval street pattern of Highgate, Stricklandgate and Finkle Street. This creates a substrate environment that is not the standard modern retail glass and aluminium — older painted renders, limestone reveals and period timber shopfronts are common. Surface confirmation before material production is particularly important here. Window graphics applied to the interior face of glass avoid most surface preparation questions; external fascia vinyls on period shopfronts require a pre-install assessment.
